Recent developments within the public sector landscape have dramatically increased the challenge, difficulty, pace and importance of civil service profession. Ministerial, Departmental, Agency and local government efficient service delivery is important part of accountability and transparency in Government. Performance monitoring and evaluation, and results-based reporting have become more prominent targets of public scrutiny in Africa's public service. The adoption of Performance Contract (PC) as an agreement between a government and ministries, department and agency  are gaining grounds in Africa.

Greater accountability is now the order of the day with results and outcomes clearly reflected through performance monitoring and evaluation. Through measuring the value and quality of services being offered, ministries, departments and agencies are being forced to scrutinize themselves for greater efficiency. Governments across the country have made accountability and transparency a priority of their platforms, giving responsibility to all practitioners and public Agency leaders to push this effort forward.

For African countries, such as Nigeria to  reach the zenith of its national potential, the public sector must be the catalyst for economic growth of the country.  This puts enormous responsibility and performance improvement expectations and challenges on the public service(civil service) as the engine for formulating social, economic, political and fiscal policies within the public sector. These policies have profound impact on businesses and its growth potential.

To help you meet those challenges and support the growth and performance of the public sector the International Conference on Public Sector Performance Improvement in Africa (IPSPI) will be held in Abuja. IPSPI‚Äôs Public Sector Performance Improvement Management  conference in Abuja will share the essential strategies, methodologies and tools you'll require to successfully develop your organization's policies, effectively implement them and deliver the service to the citizens.

The IPSPI Conference speakers and facilitators will bring the experience of a range of countries and sectors. The conference will also aim to illustrate the need and consequences of new ways of delivering public services in a changing world. The aim is to give the participants a better understanding of the available options for public service performance improvement given the pressures for change in the public service delivery.
